When there is too much happening around, have you ever tried to escape from the chaos and hide away? At some point in everyone’s life, one comes at a stage when they are looking for peace, balance and control over their mind and feelings. I have seen my friends making a cup of chai at the end of the day and destressing and relaxing; focusing on their inner thoughts. I have seen some escaping to the gym or a morning run – just erasing all thoughts completely and focusing on their heart beats and the rhythm of their breaths.

My path to escape is a light movie or sipping some tea on my deck; but really I have personally found immense benefit in Yoga or a Quick Run. It helps me think straight.

When I’m focusing on a posture, that’s all that I’m doing. I’m breathing it, living it. Nothing else !!. My thoughts and actions get aligned and then the possibilities are just infinite. Clothes get folded quickly, all the dishes are done, I’m thinking of new recipes and then the imaginations go wild. What I want to achieve through Yogasanas is a perpetual lively state of mind. No dull moments. Wouldn’t that be nice?

The Yoga that I have started practicing recently is Sri Sri Yoga; The whole yoga routine is completed in about a couple of hours. It is a great combination of passive and aggressive postures, that you can hold in for a few minutes, breath in those postures and then release.

And then I run. This year in 2014, I have run about 222 miles so far. I track my miles on Strava and my athlete profile is here Ashwini Panse Strava Profile

The days that I run are typically longer. I can achieve more, they are fresh, they are sweet. I find that running in the mornings and running outside rather than on a treadmill is more refreshing. 5 a.m. or 6 a.m. runs are beautiful with birds singing, quiet moon on the head, fresh air full of oxygen, it doesn’t get better than that.
